About the Region
The Climate Heritage Network –Africa and Arab States Region is one of the five regions of the Network. With generous support from the Mellon Foundation, through the Imagining Low Carbon, Just, Climate Resilient Futures Through Culture and Heritage initiative, the Region has a functional Secretariat housed by the Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU). The Foundation is currently the Co-Chair (representing the Region) on the CHN Steering Committee, which is the Network’s governing body.
The Mellon Foundation funding enabled the establishment of a dedicated coordination office and the appointment of key leadership roles, including the Regional Coordinator and the Francophone Regional Coordinator, to drive membership growth in the region, enhance engagement, partnership development, and policy advocacy. The Secretariat plays a vital role in advancing CHN’s mission in the region by engaging existing and prospective members and amplifying local voices, and fostering cross-sector collaboration.
